BH26 Well Completion Cleaning and Development
The end of drilling is a transition into completion, development and verification. The purpose of this stage is to establish a documented finished well and prepare it for appropriate testing. A visual impression of clear discharge is not a complete acceptance record.
Define the finished well
Prepare an as-built record showing construction dimensions, materials and relevant intervals. Retain geological and water-strike observations separately from the final construction details. Document departures from the planned design and the decisions that authorised them.
The responsible well specialist should define the required development method and acceptance observations for the actual well. This page does not prescribe a universal duration, air setting or chemical treatment. Those details depend on construction, formation, intended use and the applicable procedure.
Give development its own record
Record the method, equipment, dates, operating periods and observations used to assess progress. Identify interruptions and changes to the method. Where quantities are estimated, label them and preserve the basis of the estimate.
If compressed air is used under the approved method, specify its duty and the complete delivery arrangement. A compressor supplied for drilling should not automatically be treated as suitable for every later activity without reviewing the requirement.
Keep hydraulic and water-quality acceptance distinct
Well performance testing evaluates the response to abstraction under stated conditions. Water-quality testing addresses a different question. Neither should be assumed to settle the other. Public-health guidance identifies well-water testing as necessary to assess contamination; the applicable local sampling and laboratory requirements must be established for the intended use.

Handover before pumping testing
The test team should receive the as-built well record, development history, access information and any known limitation. Agree the test purpose, measurement method and responsibilities before starting. Unresolved construction or development issues should be described so the results are interpreted in their proper context.
Retain the original records with the final report. Do not replace field observations with a short completion statement that removes the evidence needed for later review.
