A good used compressor can deliver years of reliable air for a fraction of the price of a new machine, but only if its condition is known. Reddy Compressors sells used and refurbished compressors that have been inspected before sale, and refurbishes compressors that customers already own. What is available
Tell us the air flow, pressure, drive (diesel or electric) and budget you have in mind, and we will tell you which machines are available or can be sourced, with their running hours, condition and price. Typical categories include:
- Portable diesel compressors for drilling, sandblasting and construction, including used borewell compressors.
- Rotary screw compressors for factory air, fixed speed and variable speed.
- Reciprocating compressors for workshops, garages and small industry.

Used, sold as inspected
The machine runs and has been inspected. We tell you what we found, including any faults, and the price reflects its condition. This suits buyers with their own maintenance team who want the lowest purchase price.
Serviced
The machine has been inspected and given a full routine service: filters, separator, oil, belts and safety checks for a screw compressor, or valves, oil and belts for a piston compressor, and engine service for a diesel portable.
Refurbished
Worn parts beyond the routine service are replaced or overhauled, as listed for that machine. This may include bearings and seals, valves, coolers, hoses, electrical components or an airend overhaul. The list of work done is given to the buyer.
Whatever the category, the quotation states exactly what has been done, the running hours and any warranty or support offered for that machine.
How we inspect a used compressor
- Identity. Make, model, serial number and year are confirmed from the nameplate. For diesel portables, the engine's own plate and hours are recorded as well.
- History. Running hours, previous service records where available, and the duty the machine came from.
- Running test. The machine is run to working pressure. We check load and unload, discharge temperature, oil carryover, noise and vibration, and safety valve and controller function.
- Delivery check. Where possible, free air delivery or receiver pump-up time is checked to confirm the machine still delivers close to its rating.
- Condition report. Coolers, hoses, belts, couplings, electrical panel, canopy, chassis and tyres are inspected, and the findings are written up.

Is used the right choice?
Used or refurbished machines make most sense when:
- the budget does not stretch to a new machine of the right size;
- the machine will run as a standby or for a limited number of hours a year;
- a project needs a machine for a year or two, and buying used then reselling costs less than long-term hire;
- delivery time for a new machine is too long.
New is usually better where the machine will run long hours as the main plant supply, where energy efficiency matters most, or where the application needs a specific new feature such as variable speed control or certified oil-free air. Refurbishing the compressor you already own
If your own compressor is worn but its frame, airend or engine is sound, refurbishment can be better value than replacement. We inspect the machine, quote the work in stages and tell you when replacement makes more sense. See compressor overhauling and refurbishment and airend overhaul and rebuild.
