The district from a compressed-air point of view
Tirupati’s compressed air divides by cleanliness. At one end are the electronics, mobile-device, component and precision-assembly plants of the Renigunta and Sri City estates, whose pneumatic pick-and-place, test and cleaning equipment wants air that is dry to a low dew point, oil-free at the point of use and free of particles, with records. Beside them are pharmaceutical and chemical plants with written air-quality standards and audits. In the middle are the dairy plants of Chittoor, which process some of the largest milk volumes in the south and need food-grade air for filling, packing and pneumatic valves, and the mango-pulp and fruit processors whose seasonal campaigns run hard for a few months. At the other end are granite quarries in the hills around Chittoor and Puttur, drilling at high pressure in dust and heat, and the borewell rigs of the dry interior around Madanapalle. Across all of it is the temple city: hospitals with medical air plants, hotels with laundries and plant rooms, educational institutions, and a construction industry that builds for pilgrims and residents alike.

Instrument-clean air for electronics and precision plants
An electronics plant’s compressed air touches products that fail on a particle or a trace of oil, and its pneumatic equipment, pick-and-place heads, test fixtures, ionised air knives, cleaning nozzles, is sensitive to pressure fluctuation. The plants in the Renigunta and Sri City estates specify air by class: oil content, particle count and pressure dew point, usually to a desiccant-dryer dew point, with point-of-use filtration and sometimes point-of-use regulation and buffering. We supply and commission compressors, dryers and filtration against those specifications, test the installed set with a dew-point, oil-content and particle measurement recorded on the acceptance sheet, and run maintenance contracts that keep the records and change filters and desiccant on a calendar. Oil-free compressors are common here, and where an oil-injected machine is used the filtration chain is designed and tested rather than assumed. The oil-free and food-grade air page explains the classes in plain terms.
Pharmaceutical and chemical plants
The pharmaceutical and chemical plants in the estates are audited plants with written standards for air, and the approach is the same as for electronics: supply and commission against the specification, test, record and maintain. Standby and rental sets during audits, outages and expansions are specified to the same standard. Heat is the design condition in summer and humidity in the monsoon; dryers are sized for a 45 °C inlet with the humidity allowed for, and desiccant-dryer purge is counted in the compressor’s capacity.
Dairy, mango pulp and food
Chittoor’s dairy plants fill and pack milk, curd and products on pneumatic machinery that needs food-grade air with coalescing and sterile filtration at the points of product contact, in a wet, washed-down environment where the compressor room must be dry and ventilated. The mango-pulp and fruit processors run intense seasonal campaigns, from late spring through the summer, during which aseptic packing lines and pneumatic valves cannot be allowed to stop; a hired standby set through the campaign, and a main service scheduled before it, are the usual arrangements. The tomato and horticulture processors around Madanapalle have the same seasonal shape. The food-grade air page explains the air-quality classes.
Granite, drilling and the hills
The granite quarries in the hills around Chittoor and Puttur drill with wagon drills and DTH hammers at 7 to 25 bar(g) in stone dust and heat, and the dry interior around Madanapalle is drilled for borewells in hard rock. The pressure-margin, heat-derating and dust questions of the rest of the Deccan apply, and the DTH drilling guide sets out the method. We service rig and quarry compressors of every make and supply the spares they consume.
Hospitals, hotels and the temple city
Tirupati’s hospitals need medical air plants, duplex or triplex oil-free sets with dryers, bacterial filtration and alarms, installed, documented and maintained; its hotels need plant air for laundries and plant rooms; its institutions need laboratory and workshop air; and its construction industry needs portable compressors for breakers, drilling, shotcreting and blasting. We supply, install and service medical air plants and service existing plants of every make, and we hire out portable machines for construction by the month.
Key facts for a Tirupati site
- Distance: about 560 km from Tarnaka to Tirupati and farther to Sri City and Chittoor; the farthest district we serve. Rental deliveries are a long day each way; service visits are planned multi-day trips grouped with other southern work; parts travel ahead by courier.
- Climate: hot; summer highs around 40 °C, with both the south-west and the north-east monsoon bringing humid air, and the north-east monsoon heavier here than farther north. Heat and humidity both apply.
- Atmosphere: clean in the estates but hot; wet and washed-down in dairy plants; stone dust at quarries; red-soil dust at rig sites.
- Audits: electronics, pharma and food plants are audited, and compressed-air records are part of what is checked.
- What we do here: sales of new machines through our supply tie-ups, inspected used and refurbished machines from our Secunderabad yard, rental from our own fleet by the month, service and repair of all makes, maintenance contracts with records, overhauls in Secunderabad, spares, dryers and filters.
Sales: new, used and refurbished
For an electronics, pharma or food plant, supply begins with the air-quality specification and the duty, and the comparison between makes is on air quality, energy and the maker’s support for the filtration and drying chain; we have supply tie-ups with all major makes, we are not the authorised dealer of any, and we recommend from the job. The selection guide explains the method. For a quarry, a workshop, a hotel plant room or a contractor, an inspected used or refurbished machine from our yard, load-tested with a six-month warranty and its test sheet, is often the right value; the used compressors page sets out what is inspected.
Rental in Tirupati and Chittoor
Rental here is by the month, because the delivery is a long day each way. Our fleet supplies skid-mounted electric screw compressors, with dryers and filtration specified against the plant’s standard, as standby or supplementary air for estate plants, dairies and seasonal processors, and portable diesel compressors for construction, quarry and drilling work. Machines arrive with hoses and a commissioning check by a service engineer, and fuel for a diesel machine is the hirer’s. For a mango-pulp campaign or a dairy expansion, a standby set booked ahead of the season is the arrangement that works at this distance.
Service, repair and maintenance contracts
| Situation | What we need first | What then happens |
|---|---|---|
| Plant air out of specification (dew point, oil, particles) | Compressor, dryer and filter nameplates, the specification, recent results | A service engineer with instruments tests on site; the fix is in the dryer, filters, desiccant or drains |
| Compressor tripping or losing pressure | Nameplate, controller display or fault code, photographs of the cooler and room | Telephone diagnosis, then a visit with the parts the symptom points to, grouped with other southern work |
| Dairy or pulp plant: wet or oily air in the campaign | Compressor, dryer and filter nameplates, drain condition, room location | Dryer, filtration, drains and room checked with the compressor; a standby set if the campaign cannot wait |
| Overhaul or airend exchange | Hours, noise and vibration history, oil analysis if available | The airend goes to our Secunderabad workshop; a rental machine covers the plant |
| Maintenance contract | Machine list with nameplates, hours, criticality, audit and season dates | A visit calendar from hours and seasons, consumables carried, dryers, filters and drains included, records kept in the form an audit expects |
At this distance a maintenance contract with records, and for critical plants a standby set, is the normal way of working; the AMC page explains the structure.
Spare parts to Tirupati
Intake filters, separator elements, oil (including food-grade), belts, inlet and minimum-pressure valves, thermostatic elements, dryer filters and desiccant, point-of-use filter elements, drain valves and controller sensors are what the district consumes. Parts travel ahead by courier or with the service engineer for planned work. We identify a part from the nameplate and a photograph of the component, not from the canopy name; the spare parts page explains what to photograph. A plant here should hold a season of filters, desiccant where applicable, drain valves and a thermostatic element on site.
A worked example: an electronics assembly plant at Sri City
A plant assembling consumer electronics specifies compressed air at 6.5 bar(g) for pick-and-place lines, test fixtures and ionised air knives, with a pressure dew point of −40 °C, oil content to Class 1 and particles to Class 1 at the point of use, for a demand estimated from the equipment list at about 6.5 m³/min average with peaks near 9 m³/min at shift start. The answer is a duplex arrangement of two 45 kW oil-free screw compressors, each able to carry the duty, a heatless desiccant dryer sized for the full flow at a 45 °C inlet with purge counted in the compressor capacity, a coalescing and particulate filter pair before and a dust filter after the dryer, point-of-use filters and regulators with small buffer receivers at the pick-and-place lines to hold pressure steady, a 2,000-litre wet receiver and a 1,500-litre dry receiver, and electronic drains. The set is commissioned with dew-point, oil and particle measurements recorded on the acceptance sheet; the plant holds filter elements and desiccant on site; and a maintenance contract keeps the dryer’s performance test, filter changes and compressor service on a calendar with records, with visits grouped with other southern customers.
Common mistakes at Tirupati sites
- Specifying “clean, dry air” for an electronics plant without stating the classes and the test method.
- Sizing a desiccant dryer without counting its purge in the compressor’s capacity.
- Letting point-of-use pressure fluctuate on pick-and-place lines for want of a small buffer receiver.
- Putting a dairy plant’s compressor on the washed-down floor.
- Waiting until a mango-pulp campaign has started to arrange a standby set 560 km away.
- Ordering a part by the canopy name rather than the number on the component.
