Air compressors in Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet: sales, hire, service and spares

13 min read14 sections

Where Warangal sits relative to our base

Warangal is the first large industrial centre north-east of Hyderabad, and the road is good: NH 163 through Bhongir, Aler, Jangaon and Ghanpur, roughly three hours for a van carrying parts and a little longer for a truck carrying a portable compressor. That distance shapes how we work in the tri-city. A planned service visit is a day’s commitment, so it must be productive the first time. A rental machine delivered to a Warangal site is a day of transport each way, so hire periods are planned in weeks and months rather than days. A breakdown call is answered first by telephone and photographs, because a service engineer who leaves Secunderabad with the right part and the right drawing fixes the machine on the first visit, and one who leaves without them makes two trips.

Centre Approximate road distance from Tarnaka Typical route What we are usually asked for there
Kazipet and Hanamkonda 140–145 km NH 163 via Jangaon Textile park units, campuses, hospitals, workshops, rice mills
Warangal city and Madikonda 145–150 km NH 163 Engineering workshops, automobile service, construction, textile park
Jangaon 85 km NH 163 Rice mills, borewell rigs, construction
Mahabubabad and Thorrur 180–200 km NH 163 then state roads Granite quarries, borewell drilling, rice mills
Mulugu and Bhupalpally 190–230 km NH 163 via Mulugu Mining-linked contractors, construction, drilling

Key facts for a Warangal site

  • Distance: about 145 km from our Tarnaka office by road via NH 163; allow a working day for a planned visit or a delivery.
  • Climate: hot and semi-arid, with summer highs in May around 42 °C and heatwave days above that; the south-west monsoon runs June to September and brings high humidity, which is the season when dryers are most heavily loaded.
  • Power: the district is served by the northern Telangana distribution company, so interruptions on rural feeders are a reason to size receivers and to keep a standby machine where production cannot stop.
  • New demand: the textile park at Shayampet and Chintalapalli brings export garment units whose production floors are electronic, pneumatic and intolerant of wet or oily air.
  • Established demand: the rice-mill cluster, the agricultural market at Enumamula, the engineering college and university campuses, and the large government hospital.
  • What we do here: sales of new machines through our supply tie-ups, inspected used and refurbished machines from our Secunderabad yard, rental from our own fleet, service and repair of every make, annual maintenance contracts, overhauls, spares and the dryers and filters around the compressor.

Climate and site conditions that change the selection

Warangal’s summer is the first thing that decides a compressor’s life in the tri-city. An air-cooled screw compressor rated for 40 °C ambient is working at the edge of its envelope on a May afternoon inside a shed that is five degrees hotter than the air outside, and the oil cooler that was clean in January is coated with lint in a garment unit or husk dust in a rice mill by April. Most of the high-temperature trips we attend in Warangal are not faults in the machine; they are a blocked cooler, a stuck thermostatic valve, or a compressor room with no path for hot air to leave. We design the room before we size the machine: an inlet low on the shaded side, an outlet high on the opposite wall, and a cooler that can be cleaned without dismantling the canopy.

The monsoon is the second. From June, the air carries more water, and a 10 m³/min compressor will condense tens of litres of water a day in its aftercooler and receiver. Garment finishing presses and optical rice sorters both show the problem quickly: water marks on cloth, misfiring ejectors on the sorter. A refrigerated dryer sized for the summer inlet temperature, not the catalogue nominal, and a drain on every low point are the usual answers; a desiccant dryer is justified only where the process demands a pressure dew point below freezing.

Dust is the third. Rice-mill air is full of husk, the textile park’s air is full of lint, and quarry air is full of stone dust. Each needs a different intake filter and a different cleaning interval, and we set those intervals from what the filter looks like at the first service, not from the manual.

Sales: New, used and refurbished compressors for Warangal

For a new factory, the garment units at the textile park are a good example of how we work. A unit with three hundred sewing machines, a cutting room and a finishing section needs a known quantity of air at a known quality, and the cost of that air over ten years is mostly electricity. We size from the machine list and the duty cycle, not from the connected load, and we recommend from the job rather than from a single catalogue, because we supply every major make through our tie-ups and are not tied to one. The selection guide explains the method; for a textile unit the answer is often one variable-speed screw compressor with a refrigerated dryer and a line filter, with a second fixed-speed machine for redundancy as the unit grows.

For a rice mill, a workshop or a contractor, an inspected used or refurbished machine from our Secunderabad yard is often the right purchase. Every refurbished machine is run under load and tested before it leaves, carries a six-month warranty on the whole compressor, and is delivered to Warangal with its test sheet. The used compressors page explains what is inspected and what the warranty excludes.

Rental and temporary air in the Warangal districts

Rental in Warangal is usually one of three things: a portable diesel compressor for a quarry, a drilling contractor or a construction site; an electric screw compressor on a skid to keep a mill or a factory running while its own machine is overhauled; or a supplementary machine for a seasonal peak. Because delivery is a day’s transport each way, we plan hire by the month and deliver the machine with the hoses, the receiver if one is needed, and a commissioning check by a service engineer. Fuel for a diesel machine is the hirer’s; the portable compressor cost page has a calculator for the own-or-hire decision that a Warangal contractor can run with their own hours and fuel figures.

Service, repair and AMC visits from Secunderabad

Visit type What we need before the service engineer leaves What the service engineer brings
Breakdown Nameplate photo, the fault as you see it, the controller display or fault code, the last service date, whether the machine runs at all The parts the fault points to, a spare controller or sensor where the symptom suggests electronics, instruments
Scheduled service Hours run since last service, oil and filter part numbers or photos, any noises or leaks noticed The service kit for the exact model, oil, gaskets, belts
Annual maintenance contract Machine list with nameplates, running hours, criticality of each machine A planned calendar of visits, consumables stocked for the contract, a second machine on call where the contract includes it
Overhaul or airend exchange Running hours, vibration or noise history, bearing condition if known, oil analysis results A plan to remove the airend to our workshop with a loan or rental machine covering production

An annual maintenance contract is the usual arrangement for a Warangal factory, because it turns three unplanned trips into two planned ones. Under a contract the service engineer visits on a calendar built from running hours, carries the consumables, and inspects the dryer, filters, drains and receiver as well as the compressor. The AMC page sets out what a contract covers and what it does not.

Spare parts supply to Warangal

Parts for the tri-city go by road from Secunderabad. For a planned service the parts travel with the service engineer. For a part a customer’s own fitter will change, we need the nameplate, the part number if it is readable, and a photograph of the part itself, because many compressors sold under one name carry components from several makers and the only safe identification is the one on the component. The spare parts page explains what to photograph. Filters, separator elements, oil, belts, valves, thermostatic elements and controller sensors are the parts a Warangal customer should keep on the shelf; we tell you which ones for your machine at the first service.

Borewell and DTH drilling air across the Warangal uplands

The districts north and east of Warangal are hard-rock country, and borewell rigs work there through the dry months. The compressor on a rig is sized from the hammer, the hole size and the depth of water column it must lift, not from the rig’s advertised capacity, and the borewell and DTH guide sets out the method. Three practical points matter in this district. A compressor rated at 25 bar g is delivering less than that at the bottom of a 400 ft hole once the water column is counted; a diesel engine loses power in 42 °C air and the compressor loses capacity with it; and dust in the uplands destroys an intake filter in a fraction of the catalogue interval. We service rig compressors of every make, supply the spares that rigs consume, and supply new and used rig compressors with their test sheets.

A worked example: A garment unit at the textile park

A knitting and garment unit planning 320 sewing machines, a 12-head cutting section, four steam finishing presses and lint-blowing points sends us its machine list. We count the pneumatic consumers, apply a duty factor to each class (sewing-machine cylinders fire for a fraction of each second; presses draw air in pulses; blow guns are the largest and least predictable consumer), and arrive at an average demand of about 5.8 m³/min with peaks near 8 m³/min when the blow guns and presses coincide. At 7 bar g, with a 2,000-litre receiver to carry the peaks, the answer is a 45 kW variable-speed screw compressor with a refrigerated dryer sized for a 45 °C inlet, a particulate and coalescing filter pair, and electronic drains. We advise a second 30 kW fixed-speed machine as standby from the outset, because the unit’s export deliveries cannot wait for a service engineer to drive from Secunderabad. The compressor room is placed on the north wall with a ducted hot-air outlet, and the lint load decides a monthly cooler clean under the contract rather than the quarterly one the manual suggests.

Common mistakes we see at Warangal sites

  • Buying a compressor for the connected load of the machines instead of the measured or estimated average demand, and then running a large machine unloaded for most of the day.
  • Putting the compressor in a closed room in the middle of the shed where the hot air has nowhere to go, then blaming the machine for summer trips.
  • Running a rice-mill compressor without a dryer and then replacing the colour sorter’s ejector valves every season.
  • Choosing a dryer from the compressor’s nominal flow without correcting for Warangal’s summer inlet temperature.
  • Ordering a part by the name on the canopy rather than the number on the component.
  • Leaving a borewell rig compressor’s intake filter until the manual’s interval has passed, in a district where the dust fills it in half that time.

How Reddy Compressors helps

We have supplied, hired out and serviced compressors across Telangana since 2002, and Warangal is one of the districts we visit most. We are an independent, multi-brand business: we are not an authorised dealer of any make, we have supply tie-ups with all the major makes, and we recommend from the job. We have tie-ups with all major and reputed brands. Our own rental fleet, our own yard of inspected used machines, our workshop for airend and engine work, and more than 20 service engineers and technicians work from Tarnaka. For a Warangal customer that means one telephone number for a new machine, a hire, a repair or a part, and a service engineer who has seen the problem before.

What to send us

  • A photograph of the compressor nameplate and, for a fault, of the controller display.
  • Where the site is: the industrial area, village or landmark, so travel is planned correctly.
  • For a new requirement: the list of machines or tools that will use the air, the pressure they need and the hours the unit runs.
  • For rental: the duty, the pressure, the flow, the period and whether the site has three-phase power or needs a diesel machine.
  • For a drilling rig: the hammer size, the usual hole depth and the compressor currently on the rig.

How quickly can a service engineer reach a Warangal site?

The drive is about three hours, but what decides the outcome is whether the service engineer leaves with the right part. We ask for the nameplate, the fault and the controller display first, then agree the visit with you. We do not promise fixed arrival times.

Can you service a compressor whose make you did not supply?

Yes. We service and repair every major make of screw, piston, oil-free and portable diesel compressor, and we supply parts for them. Send the nameplate and we will tell you what we need.

Do you rent portable compressors for quarry and drilling work near Mahabubabad?

Yes, from our own fleet, delivered by road and commissioned on site. Hire is planned by the month because of the distance, and fuel is the hirer’s.

Can you set up a maintenance contract for a factory at the textile park?

Yes. A contract is built from the machine list, the running hours and how critical each machine is, and it covers the dryer, filters and drains as well as the compressor. It is the usual arrangement for a site this far from Secunderabad.

Do you supply medical air plants for hospitals in Hanamkonda?

We supply, install and service oil-free duplex and triplex medical air compressor sets and the dryers and filters that go with them, and we service existing plants of every make. Send the plant’s nameplates and the current layout.

Is a used compressor a sensible buy for a Warangal rice mill?

Often, yes. An inspected, load-tested refurbished machine with a six-month warranty, delivered with its test sheet, is a sound purchase for a mill with a known duty. Send the mill’s air users and hours and we will say what suits.

Can you help size the compressor for a new unit before we buy?

Yes, and we prefer to. Send the machine list and the hours, and a service engineer will size the compressor, the receiver, the dryer and the filters and explain the choice. The commissioning page sets out how the installed machine is then checked against that specification.
